[vz-dev] Why do you not use RRD?

Hi guys.
On the users ML someone just asked about compressing the DB, and you
pointed him to a script that does this job.
That reminded me about something that I wanted to ask from the very
beginning: Why do you not use RRD in the middleware?
Would the VZ middleware not be a perfect candidate for that? RRD is a
much lighter solution that one with an actual SQL DB in the back. Also,
RRD files are not growing over time which is also a big benefit. Finally
you spare yourselves the effort to "compress" (or rather "consolidate")
old data -- no-one is probably interested in up-to-the-minute data from
one year in the past.
Inquiring minds want to know...
Kind regards,
Ralf
